Playing with Grandpa

A road-trip; part I.

First to Southhampton to visit Flo and Raul.  Mouse was, initially, unsure about the car, but eventually got into the swing of things.

A more or less impromptu stop in Winchester to see the cathedral, its outbuildings and grounds was an unexpected treat.  (Photo credits go to Gigi.)

Following its destruction by Parliamentary troops in the English Civil War in the 1640s, the West Window - the main window in the cathedral - was rebuilt in 1660 (with surprisingly modernist results) from the shattered remnants.

Jane Austen is buried within the cathedral grounds.

This is not her.

But we eventually made it to Flo and Raul's apartment.  Eventually.  Sorry, Raul; sorry, Flo!

Following an amazing contintental breakfast, during which it became apparent why the children treated by Flo are so lucky, we headed out for a post-prandial perambulation on Southampton common.

More grandparents come to vist from Sydney!
